* LÉONARD BOUDIN (1735-1807) Received as Master in Paris in 1761 and merchant LARGE CHINA LACQUER CURVED COMMODE WITH TWO DRAWERS WITHOUT CROSSBAR Louis XV period, circa 1765. H. 88 cm W. 147 cm D. 60 cm The keyhole on the bottom drawer is missing, and there are a few chips and scratches. Two keys. Marble restored to 20 cm x 4.5 cm. This fine piece of furniture bears the stamp of L. Boudin as a trademark rather than a cabinetmaker's mark. The front is decorated in gold on a black background, with a landscape of six scattered sites, on a mound with trees and shrubs, a pagoda, a small bridge and circulating figures, including a palanquin carried by two men. This vast decoration is surrounded by a superb ensemble of chased and gilded bronzes (foliage, foliage and leather). Four handles are in place, with branch attachments au naturel. The falls have superbly chased rocailles. The hooves are short. The curved sides are surrounded by bronzes. On the right-hand side, the lacquer decoration depicts a landscape with several pagodas, including one high up on rocks. rocks. The left side features a rock garden with shrubs and stumps. The triple-molded marble top is a Campan grand mélange. For reasons of economy, this rare and very expensive marble was sometimes used to veneer and surround a stone slab. The marble used for the commode is exactly the same as that used for Louis Moreau's commode. The stamp of L. BOUDIN is repeated twice on the rear left-hand upright, with a sworn stamp.
