AFTER CHRISTOPHE-GABRIEL ALLEGRAIN (PARIS 1710-1795) STATUE "VENUS COMING OUT OF THE BATH Work of 1767. Beautiful casting made at the end of the 19th century. Bronze with light and dark brown patina. H. 47,5 cm Base. 16 x 17 cm Counter base in natural wood. It bears the founder's stamp : B. Cuisinier. This mark is often found without having allowed to discover the author. Reference: - The original in marble sculpted by Christophe-Gabriel Allegrain in 1767 is kept in the Louvre museum, inventory number : MR 1747. It is also called "La baigneuse". It was commissioned in 1755 by the Marquis de Marigny (1727-1781) for the castle of Choisy-Le-Roi (Val-de-Marne). (H. 174 cm).
