BERNARD II VAN RIESEN BURGH called B.V.R.B. (about 1705-1766) Master in Paris in 1735 WRITING TABLE IN FINE MARQUETRY Louis XV period. Satin veneer and amaranth. H. 71 cm W. 70,5 cm D. 44 cm Restoration of the top: the leather covered pull is missing covered with a leather which slid under the tray. Inlay of flowering branches called "standing wood" in a frame of amaranth on the top and the and the belt. The decoration of finely chiseled and gilded bronzes is of the usual register of the cabinetmaker, particularly the rocaille clasp in the middle of the trilobed belt. Similarly, the protection of the edge of the belt and the inside of the legs by a fine gilded bronze strip, as well as the rocaille falls which can be found on the models listed in Pierre Kjellberg's book, "Le mobilier français du XVIIIe siècle ", éditions de l'Amateur, page 129 and following. The curved top is with bronze moulding. It opens to a drawer on each small side, one of which contains the compartment for the writing set.
